So its been a while!! Like over a YEAR!! WOW!! Well a few things happened since then. Our family grew to 4!! Braelyn Christine Moehnke was born on June 28, 2011 at 8:39 pm. Ill get into detail later!! Other things that have happened:
September: Greyson turned 2, I got a GREAT job working with students, when we decided to TRY to have another babino!!
October: Not much happened here other than we found out we were PREGNANT with BABY #2!!
November: At Thanksgiving when our families huddled in a circle to give thanks about one thing we said, "We give thanks for the new addition arriving in July!!"
December: Greyson had surgery on an Inguinal (sp) hernia. Christmas was bitter sweet. My dearly Loved Grandfather passed away a week before Christmas.
January: Not much here other than getting a speeding ticket on my first day back to work.
February: We had an ultrasound the day before my birthday. We had the Tech write down the sex and then we went out to dinner to celebrate my birthday, SEX of the baby, and valentines. We found out we were having A GIRL!!
March: My job turned into a "Long Term" substitute position. Basically I replaced a teacher who retired so I finished out the year. 135 hormonal 8th graders made me very stressed and high strung!!
April: 135 hormonal 8th grade students.... need I say more...
May: My heart started to act funny so they put me on a monitor for 24 hours. Of course the entire time I was "hooked up" my heart acted normal. As soon as I took those itchy suckers off.. Guess what.. My heart flutters!!
June: Last day of school. At 36 weeks we made an appointment for a scheduled c-section on July 1st for Lil' Miss Nugget bc she was already measuring FULL TERM!! BIG BABY!!
June 19: Braxton Hicks contractions start. EVERY 5-10 mins and this goes on for 2 weeks!!
For our next 2 Doctors appointments we were 'barely' dilated to a 2. No change after being miserable with contractions!!
June 27: While having regular contractions, we have a doctors appointment. We are hooked up to the monitor and we sit for over an hour monitoring my contractions. I try sweet talking the Doctor to inducing me for a VBAC (Vaginal birth after Cesarean). She said no because of all the risks involved. The only way she would allow a VBAC is if I went into labor myself. She took one look at me and saw I was so miserable so she bumped up my scheduled C-Section to the next morning at 730 am!! **Later that day the doctor called to reschedule at noon because of conflicting appointments**
June 28: 10:30 am- we arrive at the Hospital to be checked in for a C-section. I am escorted to my room to be prepped for surgery. After filling out all the paper work required for surgery, the nurse leaves to go get my fluids and medicine for the c-section. While she was gone (10:50) I started to have an intense contraction and Lil' Miss Nugget was NOT happy and started to move a lot!! Next thing I know I have a puddle btw my legs and I am looking at Ladd like like WTF just happened!!?? My exact words where "Um.. I think my water just broke." Ladd: "No way. You're kidding right? Lemme see.." and sure enough his face said it all!!
11:30 am: I had convinced the doctor for a VBAC and I had internal monitors in me and an epidural just in case there was an emergency. After 45 minutes of sitting in a puddle I was glad I couldn't feel anything any more!
Every time I was checked I had only progressed slightly. I was really hoping this wasn't another Greyson where we were stuck at a 4 and was sent to the OR. Around 5:15 ish the doctor came in to check me and I was still at a 4!! She said: " I have 2 c-sections. You have till the end of the 2nd one to progress or you're next in line." So about 3 hours to get somewhere right?
A little after 7 I felt like my epidural was wearing off and I was freaking out because I didn't want to do this feeling EVERYTHING!! So the nurse came in and asked.. Do you feel pressure? as she was pushing my "Happy" button for more drugs!! I said yes because my epidural was wearing off. She smiled and left the room. A few minutes later the doctor shows up and asked to check me. As she was doing so I looked her in the face and said: " You better not say barely a 4!! " She gave me this smirk and said "Your complete" I guess I didn't believe her because I had to ask what does that mean. "your complete. Your a 10!!"
At that moment I cried!! I did it!! I went from a 4 to a 10 in an hour and half!!
I pushed for an hour and at 8:39 my dream of holding a "fresh" baby on my chest came true.. it was remarkable and words could and can not explain that moment!!
Once we were able to think, Braelyn is a true blessing. She was stubborn and wanted to make her own debut on her own terms.!! If we hadn't rescheduled and then rescheduled again, we would had had a c-section. It was truly answered prayers!! It was a miracle!! If we didn't reschedule for noon or even scheduled for that day at all, my water would have broke at home or we would of had a c-section at 730 am..!! Thank you lord for conflicting appointments!! Truly a Miracle!!
Though Braelyn is a sweet bundle of joy.. July and August were the HARDEST months of my life. Adjusting to 2 kids was fine but have an infant with colic and a rambunctious 2 yr old was so hard. I would be up all night with Braelyn then about the time the "gas" would subside, Greyson would be tapping on me.. "Mommy, I'm ready for breakfast" There were moments where I sat and cried because I couldn't do anything else, but cry with Braelyn.
When a rash appeared on her neck we took her to the Doctor. She suggested no breast milk and try soy. We did, nothing happened. So on Sept 3 I mixed half breast milk and half soy because I had SOOOO much breast milk stored.. A few hours later we were in the ER because her body was covered in a raised rash.
Come to find out our baby girl has an allergy to a milk protein which caused her to develop eczema. So now she is put a special nutrium formula because even soy had this particular protein she could be possibly allergic too. Lets just say she is a much happier baby and less gassy and sleeps!! yay!! But mommy is still on the "colic" schedule :( Hopefully soon everyone will be balanced out!!
